Develop understanding of team shape in/out possession. Develop the ability to play at a high tempo. InstructionsDiagram 1. Set-Up ArrangementSet Up Arrange (20 x 20yrd) playing area, split into 4 equal sectors. 6 attacking players combine with 2 central midfielders (Blue) in an attempt to maintain possession against 4 defenders (Orange). One defender must remain in each grid at the beginning of the exercise. The team in possession attempts to maintain possession for 10 passes (10-15 typically). On loosing possession the attacking team can collapse and attempt to regain possession as quickly as possible. Defenders rotate after winning the ball 3 times (or making 3 successful passes (3-6) amongst themselves) switch with the attacking players. The exercises is continuous for 3 min work periods with 1 min rest intervals. Footballs can fed via the coach on the side. Scoring The team in possession attempts to maintain possession for 10 passes (10-15 typically). This results in a point every 10 passes for the attacking team.
